Dramatherapy

Dramatherapy is a form of psychotherapy where performance arts are utilised within the therapeutic relationship.

DIFFICULT THOUGHTS, FEELINGS AND EXPERIENCES CAN BE PROCESSED THROUGH AN INDIRECT APPROACH WITHOUT THE NEED TO RELY ON VERBAL COMMUNICATION.

Dramatherapy can support children, young people, and adults. Sessions are client-led – the therapist will work with themes that the client brings to the sessions and healing aspects of drama including role-play, improvisation, movement, creation, puppetry, scriptwriting, and storytelling are used to explore that theme under the guise of ‘play’ and ‘pretend’.

THE THERAPIST SUPPORTS THE CLIENT TO EXPLORE THEIR INNER EXPERIENCE, EXPRESS THEIR TRUE SELF, BUILD SELF-AWARENESS, IMPROVE SELF-ESTEEM AND ACHIEVE OVERALL WELLBEING.

Dramatherapy allows individuals to connect to their internal worlds and express themselves allowing the individual to feel heard and understood without feeling vulnerable, which leads to psychological, emotional, and social changes.
