Your support is vital. Without your help, we are not able to carry out our life-changing and often life-saving work to vulnerable children across our community.
Tool kits are used in sessions to allow children to express themselves without needing to verbalise the trauma they have experienced. Therapy tool kits include items such as toys, sand, costumes, puppets, books, and craft materials.
Our evidence-based psychotherapies are tailored to each child’s needs. Using art, play, music, dance, and creativity, our sessions facilitate non-verbal expression, allowing children to communicate at their own level and pace. Sessions are client-led and delivered by our highly qualified psychotherapists, who help children connect thoughts to emotions, express themselves healthily, and develop problem-solving skills.
This level of funding would enable us to support a child with weekly one-to-one therapy sessions for a three-month period. Shorter-term interventions may be tailored for children and young people with low-level needs where directive work is more appropriate. This contribution would also fund wellbeing workshops and group therapy sessions.
Supporting children and young people for a minimum of six months, will allow us to support them at their own pace. Working long-term enables our psychotherapists to uncover the root cause of children’s difficulties, which can often present as anxiety, social withdrawal, self-harm, depression, aggression, or behavioural difficulties. This donation will allow enough time for individuals to develop self-regulation, build inner resilience and learn healthy coping strategies.
This contribution will allow us to work with children and young people with more complex, high-level needs. When a child has experienced severe adversity or multiple traumatic experiences, it will often take them many months to build a trusting relationship with their therapist. It will also take longer to process their trauma and regain a sense of safety. 30-weeks of one-to-one therapy will ensure effective support, with positive and lasting outcomes – preventing the deterioration of mental health in later life.
