Making big strides for traumatised children

Keen runner Amy Payne is nervous about her next big event – the Northampton Half Marathon to raise money for KidsAid.

Despite having run half marathons in the past there have been two years and a baby in between, so she’s stepping up the training.

Amy, who is mother to Layla, one, and Corey, six, said: “I started running to lose the baby weight I’d gained with my son, then I got the bug.

“But this race is about more than just keeping fit – it’s about the charity I’m running for too.

“It’s a small, local charity, which does great work. Children who have been through trauma or abuse need the best help as soon as they can get it, so they get an equal chance at a happy life as children who haven’t.”

Amy, 28, from Brixworth, who is married to Phil, is also hoping to build awareness of KidsAid, so more people are inspired to raise funds for the Northampton-based charity.
